Dr. Israel V. Muthu Vijayan Enoch

Hailing from the picturesque village Nazareth near Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Enoch had his initial schooling in Margoschis Higher Secondary School and undergraduate education in Nazareth Margoschis College. He graduated with M.Sc. Organic Chemistry and M.Phil. from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. Dr. Enoch worked with Prof. M. Swaminathan in Annamalai University and earned doctorate in the year 2005. In addition, he earned M.Tech. Nanotechnology from Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. For his postdoctoral research, Dr. Enoch worked with Prof. Yves Mely, University of Louis Pasteur, France. Dr. Enoch is a veteran in teaching with 14 years of experience. He has instructed students of B.E/B.Tech, B.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Organic Chemistry, M.Sc. Nanoscience & Technology, and M.Tech. Nanotechnology. He extended an active contribution to the design of the M.Sc. programme in Nanoscience & Technology and its programme structure, and curriculum and syllabi. Dr. Enoch has published more than 110 articles in reputed scientific journals mostly as either the first or corresponding author. He has presented papers in an impressive number of conferences. A major project funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has been successfully completed by him. At present, a major project funded by the Department of Atomic Energy-Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, is under progress with Dr. Enoch as the principal investigator. Nine doctoral scholars have graduated under his direct supervision and three reporting to his joint-supervision. He has guided two M.Phil. students (in Chemistry/Nanoscience & Technology) and more than 30 students in their Masters’ thesis. Six post-graduates are currently doing Ph.D under his supervision. Dr. Enoch’s research interests are on magnetic and luminescent nanomaterials for cancer drug targeting, supramolecular host-guest chemistry, and drug-DNA interactions.

The research of Dr. Enoch’s group is centered on Biomedical Nanotechnology. Currently, the research interests are on Cyclodextrin Host : Guest Chemistry, Magnetic Nanomaterials for Targeted Drug Delivery, Oligosachcharide-Tethered Polymers, and Supramolecular Interaction of Small Molecule Ligands with G-quadruplexes. These include chemical synthesis, physical and chemical methods of nanomaterials synthesis, spectroscopi and analytical science, and bio-assays that fall at the interface of Materials Science, Nanochemistry, and Biology.
